Barn Restoration

Hay Press barns once numbered in the hundreds up and down the Ohio River, but today there is only a single restored and publicly accessible one of its kind in the country. Hoge Lumber was a primary supplier of materials for this project.  The restoration was the feature attraction for the  Wyandotte Woods Nature Center’s annual heritage event Memorial Day Weekend.   It was the first actual public demonstration of the Hay Press machine of the 1800’s. It is believed that no one alive has ever seen a Hay Press of this type operate, which makes it a fascinating relic of it’s time.

Hoge has been commissioned to assist with materials and installation assistance on other barn restorations as well.  Others include:

Ellis Barn - Michigan

Harrison/Crawford/Wyandotte Haypress Barn – Indiana

Prophetstown - Indiana

Normandy Barn - Indiana
