About Us / The Hoge Difference

The Hoge Difference

Capability and diversity enable Hoge to produce anything made of wood in single-piece work and in short, medium or long production runs.  Company engineers often design specialized machinery to accommodate a customer's particular needs.

Hoge thrives on tough assignments and excels where client specifications are exacting.  The modern rough mill with a daily capacity of 40,000 board feet spearheads the diverse, quality-conscious complex through which prime hardwoods are cut, shaped, bored, sanded glued, laminated, lacquered, painted, packaged and shipped.  A fleet of Hoge trucks help maintain tight delivery schedules.

The Hoge Difference (The Sawmill)

Hardwood logs which have met the scrutinizing standards of Hoge foresters are sawn into rough lumber.  Bark and other waste is conveyed to a pulverizer and used by Hoge to generate the electrical energy required to operate the big plant.

Even sawdust is consigned to various buyers in other fields, assuring total usage of the resources developed by nature in the timberlands.

The Hoge Difference (KIln Drying)

The remarkable and exclusive quality of Hoge Products depends to a great degree on the curing and aging of rough lumber.  To prevent warping, the lumber is carefully stacked on roofed, rail cars where the wood undergoes slow, natural air drying.

Temperature and humidity are automatically controlled to assure optimum moisture content.

The Hoge Difference(Selective Grading)

After kiln drying, each individual board is examined by nationally certified inspectors.  Export tallies are provided for each package of lumber, specifying width, length and grade of each board.  Hoge stocks a wide variety of grades and thicknesses in many hardwood species to meet requirements of both domestic and international Customers.

Shipments are made via Hoge trucks, rail or containers
to meet the desires of each individual customer.
