KILN DRYING

The remarkable and exclusive quality of HOGE products depends to a great degree on the curing and aging of rough lumber. To prevent warping, the lumber is carefully stacked on roofed, rail cars where the wood undergoes slow natural air drying for periods extending to many months. The cars are taken into large kilns for final drying. Temperature and humidity are automatically controlled to assure optimum moisture content.

Selective Grading

After kiln drying, each individual board is examined by nationally certified inspectors. Export tallies are provided for each package of lumber, specifying width, length and grade of each board. Hoge stocks a wide variety of grades and thicknesses in many hardwood species to meet requirements of both domestic and international customers. Shipments are made via HOGE trucks, rail, or containers to meet the desires of each individual customer.
